Charities supported in previous years

The Pork Pie Pedal has raised over £70,000 for charities in its first 7 years.

This year we are supporting two charities that are working to eradicate human trafficking and modern day slavery.

Human trafficking is the illegal movement of people, typically for the purposes of forced labour or commercial sexual exploitation.

People are trafficked for various reasons including sexual exploitation, modern day slavery or for the harvesting of human organs.

This is happening in your home town. The Home Office estimates that between 4000 and 10,000 individuals have been trafficked into the UK. Only last year, a case of modern day slavery was uncovered in Melton Mowbray in which a man had been kept as a slave for 10 years. More recently, in the last three months, two men have been sentenced to six years each for human trafficking in Derbyshire.

Our aim is to raise awareness of the issue of human trafficking and modern day slavery and to raise money for two charities that work against it and support its victims. These charities are;
